Awesome Amazing vaccum cleaner. This is the vacuum i got when i first got my house and it cleans really well. Amazing on carpet and hardwood floors. The steam works well great too and am always amazed at how much dirt / dust is picked up from steaming. I haven’t seen any streaking issues mentioned from other reviewers. I just use filtered water to steam and just wash the pads in the sink and let them hang dry.
Love it and Hate it all at once First, for the “LOVE: It goes together out of the box like a charm. Vacuuming rugs is wonderful and glides easily on all rug surfaces. Changing the cleaning heads is very simple and quick. Steam cleaning my ceramic tile is a breeze. and it did a fine, clean and pretty job.I opened the box and assembled it in no time then I set aside the steam head and vacuumed my bedrooms and my huge great room area rug which has low nap with very high nap star-bursts in it. The vacuum did a lovely job on all of the carpeting and area rugs. I have tons of ceramic tile from the entry hallways, through the kitchen, great room, laundry room and two large bathrooms. I vacuumed all of the ceramic tile as I usually do prior to mopping or using the separate stand up model steam cleaner I had purchased a little over a year ago. For me, it was always a two separate floor cleaner machine job and a pain to finish vacuuming and wind up the cord and then go get the steam cleaner. Now, with my new Shark Vac or Steam it was so simple to change the head and try out the steam cleaning portion. It was heaven for me to have it all in one and very simple to exchange the cleaning heads. I was ecstatic over how everything worked and so convenient and handy. It manipulates easily in all directions. At that point, I removed my purple Shark from it’s storage spot and also my former steam cleaning tool from its storage spot and set them both into the garage. I was sure my new Shark Vac n Steam was here to stay and I was a happy camper and glad I had made the purchase. I have always like vacuuming and floor cleaning but it just became much more fun also quicker and simpler. And, both vacuuming and steaming turned out very nice as far as I was concerned. Now for the “HATE” part: A week later and I was ready and anxious to repeat my floor cleaning procedure with my new “toy”. It’s my practice to alternate rooms and clean one of them very thorough each time I clean. Today, the room was targeted to be a spare bedroom used as a home office. For starters, I moved the office chair, knelt down at the desk opening and took the crevice tool to get under the desk and into all the cords etc. I unlocked the stretch hose …… Oops, I suddenly was not a happy camper, The pull out stretch cord which is advertised as being long, is anything but long. It is ridiculously short and hardly useful for much of anything unless what you want to vacuum is at least knee high . At first, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and figured it was simply because it was new, so I tugged and tugged once again but to no avail. The stretch hose is just a joke and not much good at all. There is no upholstery tool, only a dual purpose crevice tool with a small brush that can be pulled forward toward the crevice opening. That worked under the desk because I was kneeling on the floor, but as I tried to pull more hose out to any kind of a useful length, the vacuum cleaner moved closer to my leg and then just kept falling over (mostly on top of me). It is false advertising as far as I’m concerned telling a potential buyer that the stretch hose is long. It is not long at all. There is no way that you could reach under much of anything or if you have furniture with legs, forget about getting as far as the wall. The crevice tool is also normal size and don’t even think about getting under any appliance with the stretch hose and crevice tool. Together, you’d be lucky to reach maybe 20-24 inches.Today, I did a quick search on the web in an attempt to find attachments for this thing. Nope, none could be found so I went to the Shark home site and into a chat session. I was told there are no extra attachments available for this model. I asked if any of the other Shark Rotator attachments would interchange with this model. The answer was ‘no, sorry’. I typed in my complaint and the chat person said she would forward my comments. The chat person was nice but seemed in a huge hurry to end the chat and she kept saying goodbye while I was still typing a response to her. Meanwhile, a very good friend has my beloved purple Shark to see if she’d like to buy it from me. I either have to get it back from her and tell her I don’t want to sell it or I am relegated to bring in my old canister vacuum used in the vehicles parked in the garage when I want a decent length hose to use for anything without kneeling and having the Shark keep falling on my shoulder or my back while I am bending or kneeling down. I tried laying the Shark down but then the hose gets cut off and looses suction. So that was a useless idea too. So, I was torn between returning it or keeping it, but I guess it will stay with the hopes more people make the same complaint and a hose and other attachments become available. I would have given this a complete 5 star review if I had written this with my first test run and I’m glad I decided to wait…
I think I love this vacuum! This is a great vacuum.. I could be a little better but only a little.. I have very few complaints on it.. I LOVE the fact that I can vacuum the floors then immediately switch the bottom to the steam mop and mop my floors right away.. Otherwise I never seem to get to it.. The steamer works great the vacuum works great, its quite brilliant..The ONLY thing that could be better is the hand held tube that detaches from the back, it is really really short.. The only way to really make it useful is to buy an attachment hose for it which would make the suck not as strong I suppose.. This vacuum would be unbeatable with a longer hose and if it was a lift off, I really wish I had that for my stairs.. I can’t seem to give up the steam mop for the Shark® Rotator(tm) Professional Lift-Away 3-in-1 Vacuum .. Overall I like this vacuum much more then my dyson or my oreck..
