Makes your carpets look like new When I received the Bissell deepclean premier cleaner the first thing you notice is that it’s quite heavy, compared to a normal vacuum cleaner. It’s not that it’s overly big, it’s roughly the same size and dimensions as a standard vacuum, but obviously does a different job.The next thing you notice is that it feels like its made of cheap plastic. This doesn’t detract from the Bissell in any way, more of an observation. When I opened the box, there were no instructions or user manual inside. Assembling the Bissell Deepclean is very easy, consisting of 3 bolts, two of which to hold the handle in place, and a couple of attachment holders. Its fairly obvious how to put the cleaner together and it takes less than 5 minutes to do.Once together you remove the water holder, fill it with hot water (not boiling) and add some cleaner (you receive a small sample bottle of Bissell cleaner with the product which is good for maybe 4 or 5 uses), plug the cleaner in, re-seat the water container and off you go. It’s really that easy. (You can find an online user guide on Bissells website if you need one).I have 3 cats as pets. One of my cats suffered an injury recently and for a while she wasn’t using the litter box, instead using a corner of my carpet. Once I found out she was doing this I obviously put down some puppy training pads etc. to minimize the mess to my carpet, but sometimes that wouldn’t work. So I had a small strip of carpet that badly needed cleaning. This was to be my main test point for this cleaner (if I can I will upload before and after pictures).Operating the cleaner is easy, just like a vacuum except you press a button in the handle to spray your carpet with cleaner on the forward push then release the button for the cleaner to suck back up the water on the backward pull. The Bissell does a fantastic job of sucking the moisture back up out of your carpet. When your finished your carpet is slightly damp, but this is the same for any water deepclean carpet cleaner, even industrial ones. There’s no need to worry about getting mold or ruining the underlying padding with this product. You could quite easily use this to help dry up any bad spills that land on your carpet. It took about 10-15 minutes to cover an area roughly 12 feet by 10 feet and the cleaner worked beautifully. My carpet looks like brand new again. All the stains gone, ground in dirt gone and the whiteness of the carpet stands out. You can notice the difference almost immediately upon using the cleaner.Cleaning the cleaner after is quite easy to do and fairly straightward as most of the places that you need to get into to remove sucked up pet hair etc, come apart quite easily for cleaning and simply snap back into place. The cleaner does however have some minor problems. First the bracket that holds the vacuum hose doesn’t fit as well as it should and during use the hose came loose and fell down on a few occassions. After a while this can get slightly annoying and is just enough for me to deduct one star from my rating, but its not a major issue. Secondly when cleaning the Bissell after use, there is a very small and tight gap that the water spray comes out of that had some pet hair left stuck in it and this is fairly niggly to get clean. I took a couple of cotton buds, cut off the ends and used the small pipe that remained to clean this part.Overall the Bissell Deepclean Premier cleaner is an excellent product and will make your carpet look like its brand new again. Even with the couple of minor niggling points mentioned above I would heartily recommend this to anyone that is looking for a carpet cleaner.Edit: I have now been able to upload before and after shots of my carpet showing how clean this gets your carpet.
Love it! Upon purchasing this deep cleaner, I was very excited for it to arrive. My husband put it together in less than 5 minutes following the user guide that was included but he probably could have put it together just as quickly without it.We have cream colored carpets (not a smart move but they were installed prior to us purchasing our home). We have two children 2 and younger and I am a daycare provider. We also have two golden retrievers and a cat. Needless to say they all wreak havoc on our rugs.Prepping the machine for use was very easy- just remove the tank from the base, unlatch the top of the tank from the bottom, and add water to the fill line. Then pour in two cups of solution (about 5 oz) using the measuring cup that is included. Re-latch the top of the tank to the bottom and place the tank back into the base. Simple and quick. You can use the machine pretty much like a vacuum cleaner (as mentioned by a previous reviewer). Just hold down the button and push the cleaner forward, letting go as you bring it back towards you to suck up the water and solution. I did this several times over in a few spots and the results were AMAZING! Except for a few red juice spots, my carpets look brand new. I even vacuumed prior to using the cleaner and it still picked up a TON of dog and cat hair. So much so that I am embarrassed to admit it was there.I absolutely love this cleaner and am glad that my husband waited until it was released (3/1/2013). I can see myself using this on a regular basis, whether to deep clean all of my carpets or to utilize the handheld tool to clean up smaller messes. It is so much simpler and easier to use then something you could rent from a store. And cleaning the tools is also very easy, especially since lots of pet hair can get stuck in the brushes. I do not regret our decision to purchase this cleaner, even given it’s hefty price tag.
Best I’ve tried to date but still room for a tiny bit of improvement! I had read mixed reviews regarding this carpet cleaner leaving “clumps” of hair/fur all over the rug, some people saying that it was due to it being so powerful that it pulls up hair that has been missed with a not so powerful vacuum cleaner, and others stating that its suction isn’t powerful enough thus the clumps! What a conundrum!?!Well I had the perfect opportunity to see what’s really what is going on as I have a new”ish” rug in one room(only about 5 months old) and another that is quite old and even matted down in areas that are extremely high traffic. Annnd did I mention that we have a plethora of pets (angora cat aka fur factory, Yorkie, MaltiPoo, Standard Poodle, Golden Doodle, Golden Retreiver and Labradoodle, and no, I am not an “animal Hoarder”, just live on a mini farm and have 7 kids who each have a pet!) and their accompanying fur/hairs embedded over time in the old rug, while the newer rug, not so much …..Well the truth is, drum roll………The reason for the deposits of “clumps of hair” is due to not having a vacuum cleaner that has as powerful suction as this Bissell carpet cleaner has!For the record I used the 2X Pet Stain & Odor Formula 99K52 and LOVED it, it took stains out that I didn’t think would ever come out as they had been there so long. It worked so well that I’m not going to replace this old rug for awhile as it’s not looking too bad anymore. Yes, I can still see very faint residual marks where the red clay foot prints had stained it but I know where to look, if you just came in you wouldn’t see them at all. I was amazed at it’s stain cleaning ability. It is easy to use, love the tank clean water/dirty water system. It doesn’t leak and it is easy to rinse out when done.FYI, I also started out with VERY hot water, not sure it is really necessary but I figured it couldn’t hurt.I did get the (yuk, numerous!) clumps of pet hair on the old rug I cleaned, which for years had been vacuumed with a Dirt Devil “Vision” (Hepa filter type bagless) vacuum that I did not realize how crummy it was in light of the newer vacuums now available. This year I got a Hoover WindTunnel 2 shortly after buying my new rug, so it has always had the benefit of a superior vacuum cleaner from the get go and WOW, nary a clump of hair deposited on it at all, while the other one was “clump city”!So there you have it for all you pet owners wondering what the deal is from the conflicting reviews.*And for anyone who does not own Poodles or some of my supposed hypoallergenic “non shedding” breeds of dogs, let me clue you in…..They ALL shed! What they have less of is dander which causes allergies but boy oh boy, they all shed, not as bad as the cat but what these breeds do (as all dogs will) is scratch! The more they scratch the more tufts/strands etc of hair go EVERYWHERE!!We bathe our dogs weekly and to limit the dry skin that frequent shampooing/bathing causes, we alternate the various shampoos with just a water rinse/bath and a natural conditioner so as not to strip their skin of all their natural oils as that is what the shampoos do.That has also helped tremendously in reducing the amounts of hairs being scratched off/shedding all the time and if you raise a puppy up with regular vacuuming, yes, you read it correctly VACUUMING (*With the brush attachment, on low, check it first on yourself and go around the ears, never on them!) they will absolutely love it as adults, especially on their tummies! They will come running when they hear you start up the vacuum as they think it’s time to be brushed! As for the cons, I like many others wish it had another 5 feet of cord as I have a large open floor plan in my home. If you have more of a traditional type of home this will probably not be an issue for you as you will not need more cord length. Also wish it had some type of a way to adjust the vigor in which it scrubs the carpet, it is just sooo powerful that I didn’t want to chance it on my more delicate area rug that I have. Don’t get me wrong if I had to choose I would rather it be super powerful as it is but it would be nice if this was an option, hint, hint…Also, not a “defect” but something you need to know if you’re like me and tend to lift up the handle to pick up the whole machine (like you would w/ a vacuum cleaner) to lift it over the power cord, when I lifted the handle on this carpet cleaner the water container lunged out from the machine! It seems that this is quick release mechanism! Good to know, at least the water tank didn’t have very much in it so nothing spilled, whew, that was exciting, and not in a good way!Now I know to “lock it” in place before lifting it!Be warned, you may want to not be as vocal as I was when I was so impressed with the results that this cleaner had…
